Aalborg has officially been designated as one of Denmark’s new national industrial parks, selected from more than 29 applicants across the country. This marks a significant milestone for the green transition, particularly in advancing Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technologies.
The industrial park will span 243 hectares, identified through collaboration between Aalborg Forsyning, Port of Aalborg, and Aalborg Municipality. Its purpose is to create an attractive hub for green industry development.
Key Advantages of the National Industrial Park:
- One-stop-shop for incoming manufacturing companies
- Dedicated contact person to guide businesses through state and municipal approvals
- Fast-track regulatory process under certain conditions
This designation lays a strong foundation for Fjord PtX, one of Scandinavia’s largest upcoming Power-to-X facilities. The project aims to produce up to 90,000 kilotons per year of synthetic Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF), while capturing and recycling approximately 330,000 tons of CO₂ annually.
“Fjord PtX plans to develop one of Europe’s most advanced refineries for eSAF production in Norbis Park. Over the past three years, we have worked closely with Aalborg Municipality, Nordværk, and Aalborg Forsyning. The national industrial park designation and its ‘red carpet’ scheme are crucial steps forward. Fjord PtX has the potential to act as a catalyst for a new green industry in the region,”
— Tanguy Cosmao, Project Director, Fjord PtX
