Fjord PtX Reaches Key Milestone in The Development of eSAF

Fjord PtX has succesfully ended preFEED.

Fjord PtX has achieved a significant milestone in its journey toward sustainable aviation fuel production. After 16 months of intensive work, the project has successfully completed its pre-FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phase. This stage focused on developing an optimized Basis of Design, ensuring the most competitive end-product: electro-synthetic Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF).

Collaborative Effort with Global Leaders

Throughout the pre-FEED phase, Fjord PtX worked closely with Wood as Owner’s Engineer and partnered with two leading international EPC contractors, Saipem and Tecnicas Reunidas, under a design competition framework. This collaboration has been instrumental in shaping a robust technical foundation for the next phase.

Preparing for FEED and Final Investment Decision

The project now moves toward the FEED phase, scheduled for 2026, which represents the final step before the Final Investment Decision in 2027. According to Tanguy Cosmao, Project Director at Fjord PtX, the completed pre-FEED provides a clear project definition, including:

  • Multiple production line configurations
  • Substantial eSAF storage capacity
  • Grid connection sizing
  • Expected overall plant performance

Cosmao emphasizes:
“Working closely and collaboratively with Tier-1 contractors and their technology licensors has been key to reaching this stage successfully. Fjord PtX now has a robust technical foundation to enter the FEED phase.”

A Glimpse of the Future

Alongside this milestone, Fjord PtX shares a stunning aerial view of the future plant site, set against the backdrop of Limfjorden—the fjord that inspired the project’s name.
